OUR CREATOR GOD

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” Genesis 1:1

There are those precious moments in life when we stop to reflect upon all that is around us and we are left amazed at the vastness, the intricateness and the sheer beauty of it all. And to think that all of God’s creation has come about simply by His Word. He merely speaks and all that is is because He has willed it to be so. It all displays that He is indeed …

 • the most creative artist.

 • the most ingenious engineer.

 • the most brilliant physicist.

 • the master designer and architect.

God has made the smallest and most intricate to the largest and most vast. He designs, creates and sustains, from the smallest of particles we have observed, the Proton at 1x 10 ^-15 meters (15 zeros after the decimal point), to the largest of observable objects, the Hercules-Corona Borealis Great Wall. This object takes light 10 billion years to traverse. Consider that light travels at 671 Million miles per hour. From the minute to the massive, He has spoken it into being from absolutely nothing.

All the masterful laws of physics are according to His great doing.

Every particle of matter and every measure of space in between is His creation. All of time came into being and began by Him who set it in motion. All energy and force has come from Him and yet He has not been diminished in power in any way. All the mass of spiritual beings were created by the Lord. All that exists does so because He does and always has. This answers the common, yet naive question of the day, "Who made God?" 

All of the seeming chaos of creation He has precisely set in order. He created the wonderful symbiotic relationships, where all things depend and affect one another. His design and function of things and processes are nothing but masterful.

All that He does displays His brilliance, His power, His beauty, His sovereignty and His glory.

Humanity is still discovering places, objects, processes and even living things. So far nearly 1.2 million living species have been identified. It is said that 86% of our planet’s species have YET to be discovered. We are having a hard time figuring out our own bodies and planet, let alone the vast universe. It is all to His glory.

The Most Important of His Creation?

In all that God has created, that which He has called very good, what is the height of His creation? You and I.

“Certainly you made my mind and heart; you wove me together in my mother’s womb. I will give you thanks because your deeds are awesome and amazing. You knew me thoroughly;” Psalm 139:13–14

We were the last of His created order; the culmination of His magnificent work of creation. Our ability to create - though we can only work with what He has made - is a reflection of His image in us. 

And yet He has more to create –

“For look, I am ready to create new heavens and a new earth! The former ones will not be remembered; no one will think about them anymore. But be happy and rejoice forevermore over what I am about to create!” Isaiah 65:17–18

What's the purpose for His creation? 

Nothing less than His glory. 

“for all things in heaven and on earth were created by Him – all things, whether visible or invisible, whether thrones or dominions, whether principalities or powers – all things were created through Him and for Him.” Colossians 1:16

“You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, since you created all things, and because of Your will they existed and were created!” Revelation 4:11

“You alone are the LORD. You made the heavens, even the highest heavens, along with all their multitude of stars, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You impart life to them all, and the multitudes of heaven worship you.” Nehemiah 9:6

“The heavens declare the glory of God; the sky displays His handiwork. Day after day it speaks out; night after night it reveals His greatness. There is no actual speech or word, nor is its voice literally heard. Yet its voice echoes throughout the earth; its words carry to the distant horizon. In the sky He has pitched a tent for the sun.” Psalms 19:1-4

All of His creation is for His glory and for us, the height of His creation. Take time today to find a quiet spot among His creation, still yourself, look all around and enjoy His creation. And before you move on towards the rest of your busy day, rise and give Him a well deserved standing ovation.
