THE PERFECTION OF GOD

“Can you discover the essence of God? Can you find out the perfection of the Almighty?" Job 11:7

To be perfect means that God is of the highest excellence. He is completely ideal beyond practical or theoretical improvement. Entirely without any flaws, defects, or shortcomings.

God is complete within Himself. Any of His attributes cannot be to a greater degree. What is amazing is that He cannot be improved upon. The Lord cannot evolve or become any better in any way that He already is. His love is perfect, therefore His love cannot be exceeded in any way. The same applies to His goodness, beauty, power, wisdom, righteousness, etc...  All that God is, is the best. The best possible. God is the ultimate in everything that He is.

He thus becomes the standard by which we compare and measure all these. He is perfection, the ideal and supreme model of all moral, physical and philosophical attributes. One can attempt to compare Him with other things however He is unrivaled and unsurpassed. The Lord is the highest of excellence. Our imaginations are wholly unable to conceive of His greatness for He exceeds our grandest of thoughts. This is actually a proof for the existence of God. Take time to look up Anselm's Ontological Argument. It is a mind blower, but makes a whole lot of sense.

His Work is Perfect
Not only is He perfect in every respect but His work is perfect and without error. What He does cannot be done any better, for it is the very best. His ways are perfect. How He does things could not be done any better. Even at creation all that He created He called very good. And He continues His works of perfection. Our difficulty is our finite understanding of His works, thus we take by faith that His way is perfect. "But He said to me, “My grace is enough for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9. We just can't see nor quite comprehend that it is perfect yet.

And He will continue that work - "For I am sure of this very thing, that the one who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus." Philippians 1:6. " ... keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith." Hebrews 12:2

His Will is Perfect
What He desires for us is of the highest good. "… the will of God—what is good and well-pleasing and perfect." Romans 12:2.

All That We Receive From Him is Perfect.
"All generous giving and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights." James 1:17

His Word is Perfect.
"The law of the Lord is perfect and preserves one’s life." Psalm 19:7. It is truth that is complete without flaw or error. They are just the right words for all of humanity for all time. And the words of the Lord are flawless, like silver refined in a furnace of clay, purified seven times. Psalm 12:6

More Scriptures:

As for the Rock, His work is perfect, for all His ways are just. Deuteronomy 32:4

The one true God acts in a faithful manner; the Lord’s promise is reliable; He is a shield to all who take shelter in Him. Psalm 18:30

O Lord, my God, you have accomplished many things; you have done amazing things and carried out your purposes for us. No one can thwart you! I want to declare them and talk about them, but they are too numerous to recount! Psalm 40:5

I will give you thanks because your deeds are awesome and amazing. Psalm 139:14
